Jerry Lawrence Dotson
Jerry Lawrence Dotson, 62, of Orange, Texas passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2002 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at the Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Reverend Lynn Ashcraft with the North Orange Baptist Church in Orange will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at the funeral home.
Mr. Dotson was born in Paris, Texas on June 21, 1940, and had lived in Orange for over 60 years. He was the owner and operator of Dotson's Exxon Station in Orange, and the previous owner and operator of Action Auto Parts in both Orange and Vidor, and also Dotson's Humble Station in Bridge City. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Orangefield. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, car racing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was actively involved for many years in the Orangefield Little Dribblers Association, and the Orangefield Boy Scouts of America Troop #216.
He was preceded in death by his father, L.M. Dotson, and brother, Bill Dotson.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Dotson, mother Gertrude Dotson, both of Orange; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sheila Dotson of Millican, Texas; son, Daniel Dotson, daughter, Misti Dotson, brother, Donald Dotson, all of Orange; and one grandson, Cread Dotson of Millican, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers will be George Allen, Wayne McCamey, Jerry Mitchell, John Ferguson, Willie Woodward, James Simar, and Tommy Gunn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Andy East, Robert Conway, Tommy Hoffpauir, and Robert Enmon.
