Betty Ray (Boyd) Dedinas
Betty Ray (Boyd) Dedinas, devoted daughter, wife, mother, dancer, teacher and friend, passed away Monday, September 6 in Newark, DE after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 62.
Betty was born in Marshall, TX to Andrew Rayfield "Sonny" Boyd and Annie Marie (Mitchell) Boyd Johnson. She was a graduate of Stark High School in Orange, TX and earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in history and English from Stephens College and Texas Tech University.
Betty was a schoolteacher in California and later at the Tome School in Northeast Maryland. She was also an active volunteer with the Girl Scouts of America.
An accomplished seamstress, Betty enjoyed sewing and embroidery, both in her spare time and as an instructor at Loder's Sewing Center. She also enjoyed bird watching, gardening, cooking, reading and solving crossword puzzles.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Robert Frank Dedinas, her daughter and son-in-law, Stacy Marie Dedinas and Steven Glenn Cason of Mendenhall, PA; her son John Andrew Dedinas of Marietta, GA; her son Daniel Ray Dedinas of Newark, DE; her daughter-in-law Sandra Mason Dedinas of Newark, DE; her mother, Marie Johnson of Orange, Texas; her brother James David Boyd and his wife Carolyn Dulaney Boyd of Galveston, TX.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, September 12 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Mealey Funeral Home in Pike Creek, Delaware where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Cemetery.
